Clemson vs. Notre Dame score: Live game updates, college football scores, NCAA highlights, full coverage –

What more can you ask for than a tie game heading into the fourth quarter? That’s where No. 1 Clemson and No. 4 Notre Dame stand tied 23-23 after three. The Fighting Irish didn’t waste any time finding the scoreboard with Kyren Williams breaking free on the first drive of the game for a 65-yard touchdown. They had a chance to go up two touchdowns, and the Irish were going for it on a fourth-and-1 from inside the 2-yard line when a false start penalty backed them up. They settled for a field goal to make it 10-0.

Clemson responded with a touchdown of its own to shrink the advantage to 10-7, but then after its defense held the Irish to another field goal, Travis Etienne bobbled a toss in the backfield. Notre Dame’s Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah was all too happy to pluck it out of the air and return it for a touchdown to make it 20-10 Irish. The Tigers turned the ball over on their next possession as well with Owusu-Koromoah stripping Amari Rodgers of the ball. The Clemson defense held Notre Dame to another field goal, however.

And those missed opportunities haunt the Irish at the moment as Clemson erased the 10-point deficit in the third quarter. To make matters worse, the third quarter ended with Ian Book fumbling the ball away in the red zone. The Irish defense was able to force a quick three-and-out afterward, and the Irish will start the fourth with the ball following a Clemson punt.
